Basic Requirements:

  1. Posses a valid Tennessee teacher's license with appropriate endorsement.
  2. Minimum of four years' experience teaching at secondary level.
  3. Satisfy health and physical requirements necessary to the position.
  4. Posses a basic understanding of requirements for High School graduation.
  5. Basic understandings of data and ability to analyze such.
  6. Ability to manage multiple responsibilities at once.

Physical Demands:

Work is sometimes sedentary, however, walking, bending, stooping, climbing, lifting and driving are required.

Work Environment:

Work is performed at the designated high school, but may also include meetings at the other places across the county. Work is performed in the classrooms and offices of the designated high school, but may also include home visits to affected students. Attendance at any assigned meeting will be required.

Essential Functions:

  1. Identify students at risk of not graduating high school on time, utilizing grades, attendance, and other factors.
  2. Maintain records and track individual students on a regular basis as they progress toward graduation.
  3. Monitor daily attendance and contact parents/guardians when students are absent or tardy.
  4. Develop and monitor a check-in/check-out schedule for students.
  5. Ensure students are attending remediation and credit recovery opportunities.
  6. Make home visits when deemed necessary to ensure continuous progress of students.
  7. Maintain regular contact with teachers to assist student in continuous progress.
  8. Attend IEP meetings on identified students.
  9. Attend parent/teacher conferences.
  10. Work with school administration on strategies aimed at reducing the retention rate, especially of 9th grade students.
  11. Monitor the enrollment/withdrawal process for accuracy.
  12. Participate in training and in-service opportunities aimed at improving graduation rates.
  13. Maintain contact with other Graduation Coaches across the system for regular exchange of information.
  14. Maintain all records including verbal reports in strict confidentiality.
  15. Any other duties as assigned.
